Ruckus Setup
Connect CaptiFi to your Ruckus Wireless access points.
Prerequisites
- Ruckus access point(s) or ZoneDirector/SmartZone controller
- Admin access to your Ruckus management interface
- CaptiFi account at app.captifi.io
Step 1: Create a Guest WLAN
- Log in to your Ruckus controller (ZoneDirector or SmartZone)
- Go to WLANs → Create New
- Configure:
- Name: Your guest WiFi name (e.g., "Guest WiFi")
- Type: Guest Access
- Authentication: Open
- Save
Step 2: Configure Captive Portal
- Go to Services → Hotspot Services (or Guest Access)
- Create a new Hotspot Service
- Set Authentication Type to External
- Enter the CaptiFi portal URL:
https://app.captifi.io/portal/ruckus - Configure the Redirect URL:
https://app.captifi.io/portal/ruckus/redirect - Apply the Hotspot Service to your guest WLAN
Step 3: Configure Walled Garden
Add CaptiFi domains to the walled garden (allowed before authentication):

Step 4: Link in CaptiFi Dashboard
- Log in to app.captifi.io
- Go to Settings → Integrations
- Select Ruckus
- Follow the on-screen pairing instructions
- Click Connect
Step 5: Test
- Connect a test device to the guest WiFi
- Verify the CaptiFi splash page appears
- Complete a test login
- Check the CaptiFi dashboard for the login entry

Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Splash page not appearing | Verify Hotspot Service is applied to WLAN |
| "Portal unreachable" | Check walled garden entries |
| Guests can't get online | Verify redirect URL is correct |
| No dashboard entries | Check external authentication settings |
