CaptiFi Device Setup
Complete setup guide for the CaptiFi plug-and-play WiFi device.
Setup Checklist
Before you start, make sure you have everything:

Physical Setup
1. Connect Power via PoE
[PoE Injector] ---Ethernet---> [CaptiFi Device]

[Power Outlet]- Connect Ethernet cable from PoE port on injector → CaptiFi device
- Plug PoE injector into power outlet
- Wait ~60 seconds for device to boot
LED Status: Yellow flashing = booting up ✅
2. Connect to Network
[Internet Router] ---Ethernet---> [PoE Injector LAN port]- Connect Ethernet from a spare router port → LAN port on PoE injector
- Wait for LED to change colour
LED Status: Solid purple = connected, awaiting enrollment ✅
3. Enroll in Dashboard
- Log in to app.captifi.io
- Navigate to Settings → Devices
- Click Add Device
- Enter your Device PIN
- Click Enroll
LED Status: Blue pulsing = enrolling... then Solid green = all good! ✅
Placement Tips
Optimal Placement
- Mount high — ceiling or high wall for best coverage
- Central location — centre of the area you want to cover
- Away from interference — avoid microwaves, thick walls, metal surfaces
- Line of sight — fewer obstacles = better signal
Adding Additional Access Points
Need more coverage? Additional CaptiFi devices cost +£10/month each.
- Order an additional device from your dashboard
- Follow the same setup process
- The device is automatically detected and linked to your account
LED Reference
| LED State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 🟡 Yellow flashing | Booting up (wait ~60s) |
| 🟣 Solid purple | Awaiting enrollment |
| 🔵 Blue pulsing | Enrolling with CaptiFi |
| 🟢 Solid green | All good — operational |
| 🔵 Solid blue | VPN connecting |
| 🔴 Solid red | No internet connection |
| 🔴 Red fast flash | Failsafe mode |
| ⚪ White pulsing | Firmware update in progress |
